Holmes Plantation

Location: Kettlethorpe The project has seen the creation of a new network of footpaths throughout the woodland which will in turn increase the usage of the area throughout the seasons. Selective tree clearance has resulted in a brighter, more open and inviting space and the planting of over 150 new trees has helped to fill voids in the woodland where a new lease of life was required.

Marks and Spencer Greener Living

Location: Wakefield In 2010 Groundwork successfully secured £26,500 from the Marks & Spencer Greener Living Spaces fund to develop a project in the green space to the front of the City Centre flats and apartments on the corner of George Street and Rodneys Yard in Wakefield City Centre. This funding is from the 5p charged for carrier bags in most M&S food stores. WDH matched the M&S funding with a further £25,000 from their capital budget bringing the project total to £51,500.

Temple Street

Location: Castleford The main aim of the Temple Street project was to change the visual and physical appearence of the run down area.

Cadburys Spots Vs Stripes

Location: Wakefield This is a national initiative which is part of Cadbury’s commitment to the 2012 Olympics as official treat provider and is currently receiving national press coverage on the television and national media.

Location: Pontefract Students from King's High School in Pontefract got creative and designed some key features to improve the local area.

Wood Green Development

Location: Castleford Major refurbishment of the main area of public open space within the Whitwood Estate, Castleford for Wakefield & District Housing. Improvements include, car parking, a resident’s garden, boundary improvements a ball games area and stimulating creative play with natural materials.
