Newmillerdam Project
Volunteering with Friends of Newmillerdam
The volunteers at Newmillerdam have been busy on a number of
projects of maintenance and improvement around the country park
that have included the reconstruction of walls and lakeside
banking, revetments to reduce bank erosion, replacing displaced
coping stones on the causeway and grass cutting around the car
park.
If you would like to get involved with the Newmillerdam Project
please contact Jeff Stimpson on 07855946177 or pop along on a
Tuesday morning at 9.30am in the car park across from the Fox and
Hounds Public House.
Volunteering with Wakefield Council Tree Wardens
During September to December 2010 approximately 900 native trees
were planted by volunteers.
In March 2011, we received 420 British Native Fruit and Berry
Trees from The Woodland Trust and young people worked closely with
the Tree Wardens to create new public woodland, learning about the
natural environment, developing team work skills and being
physically active.
If you would like to get involved with the Tree Warden
project contact Roger Parkinson on 07973421146.
