Office workers swapped telephones for spades to create an allotment area for pupils at Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School.
A team of over 30 volunteers from Capita and O2 got their hands dirty to transform the school's outdoor spaces ready for the re-launch of a new gardening club after Easter.
Workers from Groundwork Dearne Valley also helped out at the school, which was severely damaged during the floods of 2010.
Headteacher Simon Parton said "Working with local people and organisations is so rewarding and it's great for the children to see that if you try to help others, like when we plant out the flower beds in the local shopping precinct, people will help you."
"We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has worked with us. We are so grateful for all the support we've received on this project and we'll make sure we make good use of the resource in our learning."
Claire Shaw, Funding and Volunteer Co-ordinator at Groundwork Dearne Valley added "Being involved with local businesses and schools is something we are passionate about and seeing what can be achieved in just one day of volunteering is very rewarding."
Ros Edmond of Capita's customer management business said "Getting involved in local community projects is extremely satisfying. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day and hope our work will provide lots of enjoyment to everyone at the school for years to come."
