Our Policies and Standards

Groundwork South Yorkshire strives to deliver a first class range of services to our customers. We are dedicated to working in a professional manner, respectful of fellow staff members and the people we work with, and in compliance with all relevant legislation.

We are committed to promoting equal opportunities and encouraging diversity in all areas of our activities. We aim to create an environment in which personal differences and the contributions of all individuals are recognised and valued, so that they feel respected and able to give of their best.

In addition to our Equal Opportunities Policy we have other policies including an Environmental Policy and systems for managing our Minimum Standards and Safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.

We are committed to quality, fairness and staff development, and currently hold several standards which underline these commitments:

BETA+ (Business Excellence Through Action) – In line with the Groundwork Federation, we have adopted the quality assurance system BETA plus (Business Excellence Through Action), which is based on the Business Excellence model and supports continuous improvement through fostering the ‘plan-do-check-act’ cycle.

BS8555 – We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment, and monitor our performance using this accredited environmental management system. We have achieved Phase 3 accreditation, which requires annual assessment. To download an overview of our BS8555 system, to view our current targets, objectives and indicators, or to read our environmental policy, click the links at the bottom of the page.

The Contractors Health and Safety (CHAS) Assessment Scheme - Both Groundwork South Yorkshire offices are CHAS accredited. CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is a non-commercial scheme available to suppliers (those who provide goods and services) and to organisations (buyers) looking for suitably competent suppliers.

Investors In People – Staff development is one of our top priorities, and this national standard helps us to ensure we’re maintaining high standards.

City & Guilds – We are accredited with City & Guilds as an approved centre.

ncfe – We are accredited with ncfe as an approved centre.

Groundwork South Yorkshire welcomes disabled visitors. Our Sheffield office is fully accessible to disabled employees and visitors. Our Dearne Valley office is not, however we will gladly make alternative meeting arrangements to accommodate the needs of any disabled visitors.
