Our Impact

Planet floating in puddleEach year we make a significant difference on the ground. Our programme of activity includes physical improvements within neighbourhoods and open spaces, the creation of jobs, and the development of activities and projects which successfully engage people – whether in schools, local neighbourhoods or the business community.

Our local programmes and services are tailored to the needs of partners and communities in that locality. When all that local activity is added together, it becomes a major national force for change.

We work on over 100 individual projects each year – focused on disadvantaged communities. We measure our impact in various ways – for example area of land improved and amount of carbon saved – but what’s most important is how we change people’s lives. These quotes speak for themselves:

"Groundwork Sheffield invested time, effort and resources to our project when no one else wanted to … they stuck with us through thick and thin and we will not forget that"

“The children loved this project and being so involved! They have learnt so much from first hand experience – and have a natural curiosity now for their local environment, as a result of this project.”

“Fantastic events. Adults and children both engaged, and thoroughly well done!”

In 2009 we:
