Cinder Track

Geoff Wilson unveiling the new information panel New signage in Whitby Walkers on the track The opening of the new steps

This innovative project is making improvements to the Scarborough to Whitby old railway, known as the Cinder Track, and at the same time providing jobs and training for local young people.

The track is 21½ miles long, running between the town centres of Scarborough and Whitby and through stunning coastal scenery, never straying more than a mile or so from the sea. It is a safe and traffic-free route that provides and excellent way of exploring this part of North Yorkshire.

The project has developed an action plan for the track, which is available for download by clicking the link in the "Full Story" page - see the tab above.
