Camblesforth Games Area before work commences
Residents of Camblesforth will soon be able to enjoy a higher quality multi-use games area due to the replacement of the existing substandard turf surface.
The development will provide a harder wearing, synthetic surface which can be used for a variety of different activities all year round. The project was established after the young people of Camblesforth and the Parish Council drew attention to the severe erosion of the current surface as a result of over use.
The new surface will maximise the use of the facility and enable a variety of sports and activities to be played throughout all seasons. Use of the space will also be made safer as the resurfaced area will encourage ball games to be kept to the designated space and away from neighbouring properties.
Sue Walsh, Chair of Camblesforth Parish Council, said “We are really excited that work is due to start on the resurfacing of our multi-use games area. This fantastic facility is a real asset to our village and we are looking forward to seeing our young people using it throughout the summer.”
The project is being managed by environmental charity Groundwork North Yorkshire and funded by landfill community grant from Drax Power Ltd with match funding from Camblesforth Parish Council .
