Design by pupil from LIttle London Primary School

As part of our ongoing relationship with Little London Primary School we are delighted that they have been successful in a bid to the BBC Breathing Spaces programme to create a nature garden, plus a pond and dipping platform.

The project will give an opportunity for the school and local community to access a much needed natural space where they can appreciate wildlife in a built up inner city area, dominated by high rises and industrial estates. They hope to attract wildlife such as bees, butterflies and birds and – around the pond area - frogs, toads and water insects.  The dipping platform will allow safe access to the pond to investigate the aquatic wildlife.

As well as providing a range of outdoor learning opportunities for the school itself, Groundwork will be helping them run a variety of events such as community activity days to encourage people from the local area to visit the site and learn more about the wildlife in the area. Activities will include workshops on habitat pile making, bird boxing, pond dipping, mini-beast hunts and wildlife surveys.
