Over 100 residents in Chapeltown accessed information to help make their homes more energy efficient at the recent Chapeltown Community Warmth event, organised by Groundwork on behalf of the the Warm Homes Campaign in conjunction with the Chapeltown Development Trust.

With fuel prices on the rise, it is becoming increasingly difficult for some families to heat their homes - in Leeds alone there are 14,064 households in ‘fuel poverty’.

Groundwork’s Green Doctor service were present, along with several other local organisations, to provide information on energy efficiency and assist residents in heating their homes adequately over the winter period.

Over 120 energy saving measures were distributed to attendees, who were also able to receive information on renewable energy, and take advantage of a tariff comparison service. Residents were also provided with a fuel bill breakdown to help them better understand their energy bills, along with tips on how to keep warm, healthy and active during the winter period. Members of the community could also get their hands on energy saving gadgets in the raffle, which included a solar powered phone charger donated by Groundwork.
