Kippax in Bloom plant their new daffodil bulbs on 30th October
Kippax in Bloom (KIB) was one of 150 groups to successfully apply for bulbs in this year's Bulb Bonanza - and they didn't waste any time in getting them planted!
Formed in 2002, KIB has created over 40 floral displays in the town, ranging from window boxes and large floral beds, to a wildlife garden, and also takes the lead in Kippax's entry in the annual 'In Bloom' competition. Barry Stevens from KIB said: "Daffodils give the approaches to Kippax a welcoming splash of colour at springtime and now thanks to Groundwork's 'Bulb Bonanza' we have been able to extend this colour into the heart of the town. The bulbs have been planted on the banking in front of the busy Gibson Lane Community Centre - an area where they will have the maximum impact and be seen by a large part of the community."
Bulb Bonanza has been helping brighten up Leeds for the last 14 years. The scheme - funded by Leeds City Council and run by Groundwork - is open to any groups wishing to improve an area of public space.
