Our Impact

Our local programmes and services are tailored to the needs of partners and communities in that locality. When all that local activity is added together, it becomes a major national force for change.

We work on over 150 physical environmental improvement projects each year – focused on disadvantaged communities. We measure our impact in various ways – for example area of land improved and amount of carbon saved – but what’s most important is how we change people’s lives.

During 2008-2009 throughout Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham we have:

  • Improved 198,680 square metres of land.
  • Maintained over 528,220 square metres of land.
  • Organised 5,120 days of activity by young people.
  • Provided 830 weeks of training, mainly for young people.
  • Enabled 127 formal qualifications to be achieved.
  • Actively involved 96 schools.
  • Planted 5,945 trees, over 2,700 more than last year.
  • Involved 855 adults in days of project activity.

We carried out a total of 260 projects, comprising:

  • 159 physical environmental improvement projects.
  • 94 education and community involvement projects.
  • 7 integrating the economy and the environment projects.
