Background

Boy on playground equipmentWe work with residents to regenerate their community.  This process provides new facilities and jobs but more importantly, helps people develop the skills to continue with further regeneration.

We have established an effective model of village regeneration - one that is being followed by other Groundwork Trusts, other regeneration agencies and Local Authorities.  We continue to evolve and fine tune the approach to reflect local conditions.

In previous years our village programmes have also involved the use of Intermediate Labour Market teams to help deliver the work, whilst at the same time helping long-term unemployed people to acquire the vocational and social skills to move into work.

In the past year our Re-Engagement Programme aimed at disaffected young people from local secondary schools has proved increasingly popular and effective, with an increasing number of secondary schools across all three Metropolitan Borough Councils using this service.
